A common issue in student accommodation are parties. Chances are, you will attend, or even host one!
Parties are not prohibited in Unipol properties and can be a lot of fun, although it is better to check with your flatmates first! If the parties stop being fun, there are a couple of things you can do.
If someone drinks too much or takes a substance and becomes unwell, call 999 for an ambulance! Don't worry about getting in trouble. It's more important that someone in distress gets the help they need.
If a party is happening in your flat and it's disturbing you, think about asking them politely if they could keep it down or go elsewhere. If that doesn't work, or if you feel uncomfortable facing them, ask yourself if it's worth the hassle. Could you pop some headphones in to drown them out? Are they likely to leave soon anyway?
As a last resort, if you really can't take it anymore, give our Out of Hours Security Team a call on 0113 244 3799. If they can, they'll pop around and ask the party to be quiet.
If the parties are happening all the time in your flat and they are making you feel really uncomfortable, we would first advise that you chat with your flatmates. It may be possible for them to move elsewhere to avoid disturbing you. If this doesn't help, keep a log of when the parties happen, then get in touch with Tenancy Support on tenancysupport@unipol.org.uk or use this form. We might be able to arrange a more formal mediation between you and them or speak to them on your behalf. Hopefully, we can negotiate a compromise or talk to you about other possible options.
